THE SAME BUT DIFFERENT: Riding indoors places different stresses on your body and bike frame than outdoor cycling. The fixed nature of the bike on the trainer makes for considerably more resistance against your body, with less intervals for rest.

INJURY PREVENTION: There can be more tension on your frame with every pedal stroke compared to outdoors, where your body and bike move to accommodate the road surface, your leg power and direction of movement, so it is important to set yourself up indoors to minimise this tension.
